A good example of an 18th century North Indian ‘Tulwar’ sword.

The large Wootz steel hilt is decorated with floral borders in gold Koftgari and negative space central panels that showcase watered steel patterning. The large pommel disc features a sunburst (suraj parkash) device which is well executed in relief. The hilt is complete with a knuckle guard which terminates in a stylized tigers head.

The blade is also forged from Wootz steel with a tight grain watered pattern of good contrast. The blade is of typical Sirohi form with a thick spine. The ricasso section features an inscription which is yet to be deciphered.

Comes with custom made velvet over wood scabbard fitted with a solid silver chape.
