A Tulwar sword with Delhi type hilt from the 18th century.

The steel hilt is of open guard form and is decorated with silver overlay in floral design, which remains around 80% intact. The hilt is of a classic Delhi style popularized by the Mughals, it displays aesthetically pleasing clean lines with an inventory or collection number ’37’ chiselled onto the quilon block section.

The blade features a ricasso block section and remains in particularly good condition with a crisp polish which covers any indication of the blade being forged from a watered steel type.

The sword comes with its leather over wood scabbard, which is well made with quality tooling work applied to the leather.

A collectable sword with a hilt type becoming increasingly more difficult to come across in the open market place.
