A complete North Indian ‘Rapier’ sword from the late 19th century.

The open guard steel hilt is decorated with silver overlay in geometric and floral design, which remains almost entirely intact. There is an unusual gold tint applied to the silver decoration which has worn off with age.

The blade is of flexible spring steel and is housed in the swords original velvet over wood scabbard complete with ornate brass fittings.

A neat sword produced for wear in the ‘Darbar’.
