A good example of a 19th century North Indian ‘Tulwar’ sword.
The large steel hilt is of open guard form with a sun burst on the pommel disk. Decorated with gold koftgari overlay in geometric and floral design, which remains almost entirely intact.
The blade is of of high quality polished steel which is in ‘as found’ and untouched condition with minor surface level staining.
