A large example of an early Hide Dhal from the Mughal period with a diameter of 23 inches.
The hide is lacquered black and most likely of elephant hide which remains in excellent condition.
The bosses are decorated with gold Koftgari overlay in floral patterns with minimal loss to the gold application.
The back of the Dhal retains its leather knuckle pad which is in worn condition.
